Not only does Mercy House Thrift provide great second-hand items, they also support Geminschaft House, a home for newly released prisoners preparing to give life another shot. They do this by providing vouchers (from what I understand) for household items, clothing for their new jobs, and so much more.
On top of this, Mercy House has a GREAT record selection. Granted, you have to search around a bit... but it's worth the effort.
