I was very proud as a peacock when I learned that my youngest would be
working for the border patrol between Michigan and Canada until the hazards
of reality sunk into my mind. Some days I am a nervous wreck for her, other
days she calms me down. She enjoys her job and gets excellent money -
its a governmental job with top notch benefits. She soothes me by telling me
that she works inside of the offices. Its not like she checks out the vehicles
coming to and fro. I envy her courage and loyalty to the position. It's hard
to see the day that you can no longer protect your babies.
