Growing up on the east coast, my family has always appreciated really good pizza. Cutting it in squares has never made sense to us, but even though Al's doesn't do pie cut, they sure can do pizza! Best I've ever had outside of NY city (if you are in the mood for thin).
It’s also a fun atmosphere. Originally it started in a house that rented the bottom portion to a bar, one segment to Al, and another segment to a Barbershop. The Barber is gone, but the place still has tons of character.
You order you pizza, give them a name, and take whatever non-alcoholic beverages you want out of large refrigerators. If you want beer, you go next door to the pub and get what you want. You can also just eat in the pub if you want --though it can get smoky in there. When the pie's ready, a guy brings it to you, and then you just tell them what you got and pay on the way out.
Best thin pizza in Chicagoland.
