Bergmann's cleaned my custom-made dress and damaged the silk organza fabric in the back, causing it to pucker. In addition, the silk organza is now deeply ridged instead of being pressed flat as it was when I brought the dress to Bergmann's.
They charged me $39.80 to clean the dress because the buttons had to be removed and reattached.
Bergmann's had a textile lab do an analysis of the dress and attributed the damage to normal wear and tear (even though it was worn only once and cleaned once by Bergmann's), the character of the fabric, and the manufacturer. They refuse to accept responsibility for the damage.
I'd gone out of my way to use Bergmann's because I had heard good things about them. It was frustrating dealing with their staff, who could not find the dress or a record of it for a week, though they'd given me a receipt and reference number. When I finally spoke to Mr. Jeff Bergmann about the damage, he would not even look at the lab report.
Bergmann's will not refund my $39.80, make amends for the damage, or press the dress so it looks like it was made to look. I will never use their service again, and I would never recommend them to anyone.
