Let's get one thing straight -- I am not the typical Jacksonville resident who rates restaurants based on how much food they shovel into me. I'm an amateur chef and I've eaten regularly at some of the worlds most highly regarded restaurants. Matthew's positions itself as an upscale restaurant and certainly has the prices to match. However, the portions are laughably tiny, often consisting of a single morsel sitting forlorn on a huge white plate. The food is excellent, no mistake about that. But I found the service to be lacking the key element of warmth so essential for a truly memorable evening.
