I have been sking at Mt. Rose since I was a little kid. My dad always picked Rose because of their great run called, Around the World, that is long and offers a lot of good practice for beginning skiers.
They always have great food in their lodge, and we always liked the little weather center in the lodge growing up, too. They have a wind guage, barometer and thermometer that you can see in there.
The prices are good, not great, but good enough for local skiing. And it's so close, too!
