The lake is good, because unlike other lakes around the facilities around are developed well enough for camping longer periods of time. Another advantage is that unlike lake McMurtry it is about 10 miles away from the town, which is closer. The drawbacks are on certain occasions it gets crowded. Theoretically, you can swim at the lake but it is too muddy. The lake is mostly for jetskiiers and for people who likes to have a picnic. Personally, I would prefer lake McMurtry over Lake Carl Blackwell, because it is more quiet and nicer in general.
