The Johnny Appleseed Park and Festival is a wonderful family event offered each year. The food is interesting. My favorite is the fresh kettle corn cooked in a monster black kettle filled with bowling water. The crew shucks corn full time and places it in the water while a group of men work in the back cutting the corn off the actual corn stalks. Wait in line and get a little paper tray and the chance to direct your corn preparation. The volunteers dip your corn in butter and you can add your own salt. Very tasty! My favorite part of the festival is the fife and drum corps that perform. It's a trip back into history under the huge trees in a local park. The only negative part is the selling of animal skins in the camping recreation of the park. Who needs to buy a squirrel pelt?! Really! more
