A Flood Control Area and a Park: Two in One! 4/16/2006

Headwaters Park is a beautiful downtown park that offers miles of safe walking paths in an area filled with mature trees. In the summer, the flowers are wonderful to see. This was originally a group of buildings and an open area that was transformed into a sort of basin to catch run off from the floods...that is where the name came from. The park is located at the headwaters of the river. The park is a great place to enjoy Mexican Independence Day celebrations and the Germanfest in October. The Three Rivers Festival also uses a lot of the park for that celebration. I think the city did an outstanding job in planning this beautiful park. It is perfect for kids and adults. more
