This is a great place to start for a beginner. They've got a helpful staff in a small friendly store. Cowell's sells new and used equipment including surfboards, body boards, and skim boards. They also rent surfboards. Ask for lessons and they can arrange something for you. If you're a student at UCSC and you don't know how to surf yet, the fall season has the warmest water you're gonna get up here.
