Garden Territory is located at the Farm at South Mountain, which is a wonderful retreat from the harsh reality of the desert for those of us who come from greener climates. It is on an old Pecan tree farm, and many weddings are held at the Farm, so the whole area is very picturesque. Garden Territory sells a variety of gardening supplies: organic compost (not made from sewer sludge), fertilizer, organically grown seeds, and some potted plants, vegetables and herbs. They tend to have a rather sporadic supply of vegetables and herbs, so it is best to call in advance if there is something specific you want. The shop also sells lots of cute gifts targeted to the mother-in-law, grandma category, if you know what I mean: coffee table books, lotions, candles, cookbooks, Revolution Tea (a product of Tempe!), bath salts, and knick-knacks. The woman who owns the shop (I’ve forgotten her name!) is very helpful and knowledgeable. In late winter and early spring, she teaches several classes on gardening, specifically gardening in the desert.
