When we bought a 75-year-old house, we took the original abstract to Mr. Rhoades so he could do a title search on the property. The title search was satisfactory; however, when he moved to his new office, he lost our irreplaceable abstract. My story does have a happy ending. After about 18 months, his secretary did call to say they'd found our abstract. It was in the same condition as when we gave it to them and we were able to get it back from Mrs. Rhoades' office.
