In my experience I have found Sovereign Banks to be very friendly and no hassel. I do a lot of banking online and their website is never down. They often have no fee or low free checking account promotions. The only downside is that it is sometimes difficult finding a Sovereign Bank atm. I often must go to a Sovereign Bank to use their atm but they have quite a few locations in the area so it's not that inconvinient.
