But they still have some charm as compared to the larger chain home centers we have located in town now.
They are rarely busy. There is ample parking available most of the time. I love to go inside because it always smells like cut pine.
They offer full selections of many products, including paints and wood. They just don't have the space inside for 1000 kinds of cabinet knobs or wood screws. They do carry a basic line of most everything, and even charming decorative items that the others stores may not.
Best of all, they have a post office in the back. I always go here when I have basic mailing to do. When the local post office is bustling and the line stretches out the door, I can bop in here and mail out my packages without having to wait. A definite plus to this facility.
Customer service on the floor is usually attentive, although they don't normally have more than two cashiers on duty. Checking out can sometimes be slow.
The hours are more limited than the chain retailers, but I definitely recommend coming here when they are busy which is most of the time. They do run great sales with rebates. Oftentimes you can pick up some items which will end up being free.
