Schenley Park is unique because it sits in the heart of very busy Oakland. There are trails to run, walk, or take just far enough into the park to drown out the noise of the city for a few minutes. The visitors center is completely renovated as of about 2003 and it compliments the park nicely. It is a small little building just across the way from CMU and Phipps. There's a little coffee shop inside with some very friendly staff. The walls have some of the history of the area on them, and there are tables both inside out that welcome groups of friends meeting up or individuals if you want to read or study. It is really a unique hang out place that is convenient to the university and medical crowd that frequents Oakland.
