Normally I just use Turbo-Tax Online to do my taxes. Last year though was a different situation. I had left my job the previous year and with that had exercised some options and sold some stock. I started using Turbo Tax but for some reason it didn't like the way I had made the transactions. The software kept making disturbingly large swings between owing a bunch of money and getting a hefty refund from the IRS. Time to bring in an accountant.
A friend recommended James Russell to me. He was pleasant enough to talk to on the phone and immediately made time for an appointment. During the appointment he was very good at explaining the various aspects of my taxes along with giving me plenty of tips for future years. Plus, he also charged a fixed fee for personal tax returns which was comparable to other accountants. My tax return was done shortly thereafter and well before the April 15th filing date. In retrospect, I probably could have done the taxes myself but I have no regrets with having gone to James Russell.
