If you live in Park Slope, Sound Track is the only place to get CDs. It isn't very big, and for a long time did not have anything underground--I remember being very annoyed a few years back when one of the workers had not heard of my favorite ska-punk band. They now have a display that they keep stocked with the latest indie rock releases (many of them not so "indie" anymore or even in the first place). However, they mostly just have stuff that older people might be looking for. It's a good place to get mom a CD for her birthday in a pinch, but not someplace I'd ever go to browse.
