Hawaii Meals on Wheels is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to delivering hot, nutritious meals to the frail elderly and disabled persons who cannot cook or shop for themselves and have limited help to perform these basic activities. One may volunteer for HMOW in several capacities but perhaps the most popular way to get involved is to be a meal delivery driver. HMOW serves 250 clients a day for lunch and dinner and has various routes throughout the island. The most satisfying part of volunteering is knowing you are making a difference by taking an hour out of your day to deliver a meal and smile to an individual who otherwise would not have access to a hot meal or have regular contact with other people.
