Best Vietnamese in South Florida 8/18/2005

Miami's longest continues running Vietnamese restaurant is still South Florida's best. Co-owners Pung Nguyen (chef) and Kathy Manning (front of house) serve delicacies from a six-burner stove that barely fits in the restaurant's cramped kitchen. Be prepared to wait , and wait not only for a table, but to order and to finally eat. Located in a tiny store front on cuban Miami's main drag, Calle Ocho, blink and you might miss it. But fortunately the nightly wait for a table gathered outside will let you know you've found it. There's a regular menu plus daily specials. Most entrées come with either a light soup or a simple refreshing salad of lettuce, avocado and watercress in a lime dressing. Favorite entrées include fish topped with mango (dolphin, snapper, king) and chicken in a puffed pastry shell with a cream cheese and watercress sauce. American desserts are huge and yummy. Don't miss the vietnamese coffee to end your long night of fine dining at inexpensive prices. more
