The Finney Game Refuge is located in Garden City, Kansas. It is, in total, 3,670 acres. It is mostly prairie and sandsage and tumbleweeds, which are all native to Kansas. What makes this refuge so cool is the wildlife residing there. It is wildlife native to Kansas and living there is the oldest publicly owned herd of bison in Kansas. I call them Buffalo but they are bison. Other inhabitants of the area are prairie chickens, jackrabbits, deer, ground squirrels, prairie dogs, Kansas snakes and other critters. A walk through of this wildlife area and you will have a good idea about the diversity of Kansas grasses and wildlife!
