I was a long time customer of Upstares before my stylist opened her own Aveda salon. The atmosphere is hip and funky. The place smells great all the time. It can be hard to find the first time you go there, it is up a narrow flight of stairs in an old commercial block. Not handicap accessible! They used to have two great resident cats and they always have tea available. They carry a full line of Aveda products but never try to hard-sell anything. The stylists are all experienced and good at what they do--they're also good listeners. You won't leave there with a frightening cut you didn't want.
