Jake's makes some of the best ice cream in the city. It's all homemade and delicious. The fat content is sky high and it has an almost buttery texture to it, which is a good thing. Jake's flavors are original, but nothing outrageous, especially compared to Ben & Jerry's. What sets Jake's apart from other ice creams is the quality of their ingredients. In their 'piescreams'--Key Lime, Blueberry, etc.--they first bake a pie and then mix it into the ice cream. Jake's also serves sandwiches and coffee, but the ice cream is the big draw.
Jake's in Decatur is in a big old house, a couple of blocks south of the square on Church street. The house is huge and has different decorations in the different rooms, and games for adults and kids to play with.
