Al Forno is located in the Benny's shopping plaza on Route One in Old Saybrook. It doesn't look like much from the road, but the restaurant is very warm and cozy, with hand blown Italian lights and an open kitchen where you can watch the pizza being made.
Al Forno has delicious dinners, including the best manicotti I've had and pastas with exotic mushrooms and homemade sausage. They also offer fresh salads, and of course their amazing pizza. The pizza is brick oven style with a chewy crust, and exotic toppings. They are open for lunch and dinner and have a great wine list. If you are picking up pizza to go, be sure and get a "Stamp"--5 stamps gets you a free pizza.
