I’ve purchased two Toyotas from Big Island Toyota. The funny thing? Neither I, nor my two SUVs, ever had to step foot on the Big Island.
I conducted the entire business portion of the transaction over the phone and via e-mail. To deliver the vehicle (which had never left the dock on Oahu), my salesperson flew to Honolulu, picked me up at my office, and delivered the car at Servco’s vehicle processing center. The whole business transaction took five minutes and another half an hour was spent on explaining the various features and owners manual.
Several weeks later, my salesperson met me at work and dropped off my Big Island license plates and registration. Very simple.
So, if you’re on Oahu and you see late-model Toyotas with “H” license plates, you’re probably looking at someone who went the Big Island route.
