When I found out the hard way that the side sewer on my 97-year old house hadn't been repaired in 80 years and was 30 years overdue for replacement, I started gathering bids. I don't know how many of you have tried to get bids from plumbers, but let me tell you, it's pretty amazing how many plumbers don't bend over backwards to make a good impression, by, say, responding to "hey, I'd like a bid for your business" voicemails. Maybe I have a bad voice.
Anyway, Fischer responded quickly and professionally and gave me a reasonable bid. I got a much better bid from another guy, but not to surprisingly, he flaked out, so Fischer got my business. I actually complicated matters somewhat by having them dig out a section of my basement and line the hole with concrete, for a sunken theatre. There were a few scheduling miscommunications, but by and large, they did a good job.
