The Lyric is an adorable little movie theater located in downtown Blacksburg. It was renovated a few years ago, so while it still has a classic look, it's in better condition inside.
The movies shown are usually independent movies, or ones that are fairly popular but won't be offered long in the normal theaters. Movies at The Lyric usually cost $4 and are shown at the theater for about a week or two. The Lyric consists of one theater with a large screen and seating downstairs as well as upstairs in a balcony area. There's a small concession stand inside where you may purchase popcorn, candy, and drinks.
Parking isn't great since this is downtown Blacksburg, but if you go after 5pm on weekdays or anytime on the weekend you don't need to pay for a meter so it's not bad at all. It's also a great place to walk to from the Virginia Tech campus. I believe The Lyric is also handicap accessible. Our friend in a wheelchair has gone with us before and I don't remember him ever having a problem.
I love to go to the Lyric when they're showing a movie I want to see because I like that my money will help support this wonderful old treasure. You have to check it out if you're going to be in town!
