The Lakeview Oyster House is a very casual sort of restaurant, housed in what seems to be a large house, formerly a private residence one suspects. If the weather is reasonable it's most enjoyable to be seated on the beautiful and large front deck. The inside is dark, decorated with original art of some kind. It feels very down-home in a somewhat sophisticated Noveau Southern art sort of way. As a restaurant this is a fine casual seafood joint and their servings are unusually fresh for a land-locked city. And no, there is no visible lake from which they pull the wonderful oysters, catfish, salmon, and clams. A salad and a side makes for a good meal at roughly $15 and most main dishes (sexamples: Pan Fried Idaho Trout, Pecan Crusted Catfish, Crawfish Pasta) will run $15 to $20. Theree is a nice selection of beers here. The main pleasure is good food, preferably outdoors on the deck looking over a fun, revitalizing section of town. more
