I'm suppose there could be more perfect pierogies in Pittsburgh; I could imagine being welcomed into a local polish family's home for christmas dinner and having pierogies made even more tenderly and cooked with an even more ideal combination of butter & onions. I guess it is possible, but I may never know.
Pierogies Plus, operating out of a converted gas station in McKees Rocks, makes amazing pierogies to take home or eat right there drenched in butter.
They offer some standard varieties at all times: potato & cheese, cottage cheese & chives, or my favorite saurkraut & potato. If you call ahead (which you MUST do for christmas & easter), you can get more interesting varieties (jalapeno, bacon, kilbasa, apricot, etc.,).
