Top of the Hill is a Chapel Hill institution. For any true Tarheel, it's a must to watch a basketball game on Top of the Hill's patio, knocking back a few of the restaurant's excellent micro-brews.
The restaurant is located on the top floor of the building at the corner of Franklin and Columbia and has a great patio/balcony that is fantastic for people-watching.
The food here is really good, so even if it's not good weather for the patio, the restaurant is still definitely worth the trip. Don't leave without trying one of the beers, brewed onsite!
Plus, the best thing is they're locally owned and operated.
