That hits the spot! 8/15/2005

I had Chinese food from various places. But the place that I always return to for cheap and delicious food is the New Hong Kong. The decor is plain, with the obligatory picture mural of China, boxes of fortune cookies and the statue of the Beckoning Cats inviting your business. A cooler is nearby, with ice-cold drinks and a small bucket of ice. Don't let the austerity fool you. Despite what one food critic has said regarding the decor, it actually fits the purpose of New Hong Kong. It's primarily a take-out establishment with great food at good prices. The best bang for the buck is the $4.95 lunch specials. There you get soup, rice, and an entrée. Canned soda is only 65 cents a can. My personal favorite are the steamed dumplings. I wish I could subsist alone on those tasty little things! Highly recommended! VISA/MC accepted. more
