The Stamford Museum is really hard to categorize. It is a beautiful estate, a former mansion and it's grounds where a mini farm has been built, a mini nature center and an exhibit space. It is ok for kids - the farm is fun (no petting please!), the nature center is usually closed when I am there, and there is a playground - which has a neat appearance but is a little scary if you have under 5s (the slide is one of those super tall FAST ones). The exhibits inside are usually not kid friendly - it is like being in a gallery. I would say Stamford Museum is worth 1.5 hours w/the kids (weather permitting), grown ups you can do the gallery in about 45 minutes. Membership is pricey if you are a non resident.
