The Everglades Park is a gem in the National Park Service. It consists of over 1.5 million acres of natural habitat, half of which is water. It is the largest remaining subtropical wilderness in the nation. Much of the region is a labyrinth of waterways and saw grass marshes.
The park is home to over 300 species of birds, half of which leave during the summer only to return during the fall.
There are over 500 species fish, alligators and snakes.
There is an excellent visitor center .
