We're usually very picky about places to travel to because of the budget and the fact that we all have very different tastes when it comes to interesting landmarks. A few years back when we decided to visit Washington DC, we decided to visit a travel agent first and seek advice. After patient dicussion, we decided that we'd rather travel with a tour group rather than by ourselves, so they referred us to a cheap yet very well rounded tour of the Washington DC area, as well as the added bonus of Baltimore and Philadelphia! It was a great package, and food and lodgings were all included in the initial deposit. That was probably one of the best trips we'd taken.
