Larry's Appliance Service has got to be one of RI's best-kept secrets. He purposely leaves his name out of the Yellow pages, and I really believe him when he says it's because he would have too much business if he did. All of his business comes from word-of-mouth, and that's really the only way to do good business in RI.
Larry has been coming to our house since we first bought it. His first trip was to fix the washing machine. His second trip - unforgettable- was to fix my oven's internal timer-type-thing that broke. Instead of it shutting off the oven - it did the OPPOSITE - it heated up enough to turn the bones of my roasting chicken into dust and every time I opened the oven door, blue flames erupted. It was spectacularly Impressive. At any rate, Larry fixed it. He has also fixed other assorted appliances, all within a reasonable time frame and at prices that are more than fair.
Larry is also trustworthy - I left him once to make a run to Home Depot for a part, and when I returned, everything was intact and he was still working. And when he says an appliance is dead, believe him. It is truly dead and time to start shopping for a new one.
Finally, offer him something to drink. Water, coffee, anything. He appreciates it. He's a super nice guy and will go out of his way to make sure your appliance is fixed and no longer shooting blue flames.
