Compact, jewel-like, great gift shop 6/24/2011

While I can spend hours in a great museum, I also enjoy a quicker visit. Wheelwright is great for that, because it's usually just one exhibit at a time, in a single (fairly large) room. The museum does as Mark Twain said, "Put your eggs in one basket, and WATCH THAT BASKET!" In other words, because there's only one at a time, each exhibit is just about perfect. The building itself is wonderful -- it echoes a Navajo hogan, but larger, of course. And the gift shop is a replica of an old reservation trading post, which is fun, and the jewelry, pottery and other stuff is made by native Americans, and since the whole thing is nonprofit you know the money goes direct to the artists and to support this perfect little museum. Oh, did I mention admission is free? Nevertheless, you'll feel good leaving a donation. more
