Newtown Hardware House dates back to the late 1800s and still has that small-town hardware store feel. It is a refreshing change from big-box stores like Home Depot and it is still locally owned. Its limited space and resources, however, prevent it from carrying many large tools and outdoor items. The store's hours tend not to be convenient for those who work 5 days a week in a 9-5 type job. On the other hand, it is much more convenient to shop here for small tools, hardware, keys, paint, etc. than traveling 15-20 mins to Home Depot or Lowe's. The store is an easy walk for those who live in Newtown Borough. The staff is generally knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are not as low as large retailers, but not much higher and they do have sales and coupons every so often.
