Impressive architecture and fine art 8/21/2005

There are so many things to like about the Getty. To start off, admission is free, so this is open to everyone who would like to enjoy art. I guess the "catch" is that parking is not free, although I suppose you might be able to find street parking or some other place to park for free. The second thing you notice is the openness of the Getty Museum. Instead of one building with many different wings or rooms, the Getty has many different buildings and lots of open areas. Combined with the good weather in Los Angeles, this may be just a nice place to visit and enjoy a picnic. The third thing is the architecture. I think that's one of the drawing points of the Getty. People go there to look at the architecture. Lastly, there are art pieces inside the buildings. They seem to have a lot of pre-20th century European art and 19th and 20th century American and European photographs. Of course, like any other museum, they have rotating exhibits so you can check ahead before you go to see if there's something special you want to see, or just go for a nice picnic. more
