Kamakura is a nice neighborhood Japanese restaurant that has been serving Alameda residents for decades. Kamakura has a typical ho-hum atmosphere found at most Japanese restaurants. I found Kamakura to be quite a small restaurant; there's only room for about fifty patrons.
The food is decent, but nothing too special. The fish was fresh enough. The prices are typical for a Bay Area Japanese Restaurant, $10-15 per entree. The service wasn't anything too great. However at the end of our dinner, the restaurant's owner, Faith, greeted us. I believe she does this with all her customers, so that was very nice.
I'd marginally recommend this restaurant. I believe that there are better Japanese restaurants in the East Bay.
