$500. That's how much money I wasted trying to get other mechanics to properly diagnose a problem I had with my truck. My horn used to randomly honk when I was driving on the freeway, which sounds funny, but is actually quite lame when it's your car.
Anyway, I tried the ford dealership in Bellevue. They charged me $100 to tell me I needed a new alarm (for $500)... wrong. Next I tried a few more local places (repeatedly). The local places were friendlier, but I got vacant stares and wild guesses.
Imagine my surprise when I finally got to AA and they guy behind the counter told me exactly what the problem was and how cheap it would be to fix. I was delighted. He wasn't even a mechanic and he diagnosed my problem immediately. Plus the warrantied the work and vacuumed my truck too.
Oil changes are cheap as well. Try them out if you need an honest independent mechanic. - Sam H.
