The story is now told so often it's nearly local folklore--Gary Sinise, John Malkovich and friends started this world-class theatre in a church basement over 30 yrs. ago. It now hosts some of the finest productions in the country, indeed the world as some shows have toured overseas. The famous faces come back often--John Mahoney, Gary Sinise, Laurie Metcalfe, Martha Plimpton, John Malkovich and many others. Located on a lovely strip of Halsted St., where you can dine and shop before the show. As with any theatre, some of the shows beg the question 'What are we looking at?' Trust me it's a good sign: a well established theatre not afraid to keep experimenting.
