University of North Texas has some strong points. Its jazz department, for example, is one of the best in the nation, and is absolutely great. The campus is a manageable size--not too big to be overwhelming, but large enough to not be stifling. However, UNT's acamedics are not so great, and many departments are sub-standard. The town, Denton, has some good places to eat and hang out but is relatively boring in many respects and still has some of the small-town mentality that makes it not the greatest place to spend four years.
