My hot water heater was not working so I called aksarben ars. The guy that came out told me I needed a part (burner assembly) and that I could save money doing it myself, so I got the part he told me to and put it in, it didn't work. So I called again, another guy came out and told me "he should never have told you that...you need THIS part" (gas control valve) and said if you can change the 1st one yourself, this one is even easier. So I tried again with the new part. Still nothing. I called again and the 2nd guy came out again. He brought the same 2 parts that I changed out with him and popped one in, and it fired right up. Apparently I got a defective or incorrect part when I bought it myself. My shock came when he told me it was $400 to do this (and this didn't include the part price because it was under warranty). I think he spent 10 minutes popping the new one in, since I had already taken the old (new) one out already. He said he came out 3 times (which he did), but if it was diagnosed properly when the first guy came out, or the 1st time the 2nd guy came out, none of this would have ever happened. We were without hot water for over 5 days because of all the back and forth. I never asked to do it myself, they suggested it...and who doesn't want to save money if they can? The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth and I will be going elsewhere for my plumbing needs. I will say, both guys were nice and I appreciate them trying to help me out.
