I had Taylors come to my home to diagnose my boiler, that was no longer working. We were told that the issue was the inducer motor and was told it would cost $1000 to fix. We were also told that there was a $90 charge to diagnose the issue that would need to be paid if we did not hire them right then. As you may imagine after receiving a $1000 quote for a brand new boiler system, we decided to get a second opinion. The next company that came said that the inducer blower was fine and the zone valves are actually the issue. This only cost me $350 to fix versus the $1000 that Taylors quoted. While the other company was looking at the unit, they noticed that there were things disconnected etc. The Taylors employee did not only diagnose the wrong issue but they disconnected pieces and wires without putting the unit back the way they found it. I basically paid them $90 to worsen the situation. Luckily I did not give them the go ahead to replace a $1000 part that didn't need to be replaced. Even if the inducer motor was the actual problem, Taylors was priced higher than any other company I spoke with. I would not recommend Taylors. They do not seem like an honest or reasonably priced company.
RESPONSE FROM Taylor Heating & Air Conditioning:
I am sorry that you had a bad experience with Taylor Heating. It sounds like the diagnosis was incorrect among other things. I would like to assure you that we will not take your concerns lightly. We work hard to get the right technician on the right job. We also have a commitment to honest professional service, but mistakes are sometimes made. Please be assured that our technician misdiagnosed your problem and was not intentionally trying to sell you something that you did not need. We as many companies have safeguards in place to ensure that things are done properly. If someone were to question a diagnosis we would gladly send our service manager to recheck his work.
As for the cost I am currently checking into this situation. We have been servicing HVAC equipment for over 65 years. We know what it costs to deliver prompt efficient and reliable service. We are not always the cheapest however this situation seems way out of line and we will review the pricing that you were given. We will also gladly refund the monies that you have paid as we did not deliver the service that you had requested.
Furthermore we appreciate you bringing this to our attention and we will use your call as a teaching experience for our next Tech meeting. I would like to correct this before it happens again.
Please accept my apologies and let me know if you have any further concerns.
