Difficulty with Engine Overheating Issue 9/19/2015

I have been a customer of AP for many years but mostly minor maintenance items. Brought my 86 Corvette to AP for overheating last year and they couldn't find anything wrong except a leaking hose. I suspected a faulty thermostat. Had the same issue this year and nearly seized my engine due to overheating. This time they discovered a head gasket issue due to exhaust gas in the coolant. Their cost to repair was very reasonable ($1600) so I chose them to perform the job. They completed the job prior to Woodward Dream Cruise so I was able to participate. I had several concerns when I picked up the car but didn't want to leave it over the weekend. The Vette shutoff during the cruise and it took an hour for it to cool down so it would restart and stay running. Luckily I was able to drive home without a tow. The service personnel were kind and emphatic to my issue and agree to fix all my concerns. I noticed when picking up the vehicle the routing of my newly installed ignition wires were not correct after pointing out this issue to them previously. One in fact was laying on the exhaust manifold. The service tech fixed the issue but my concern is with the attention to detail and care of the product this shop has. Their cost are very competitive but the overall service for intensive repairs needs to be improved. I would use them again because they handled the situation very well and owned up to their work and hopefully this review will help them in the future. I would rather wait and make sure the repair is done right and professionally than to have to bring it back for corrections. more
