The staff were all friendly, courteous and professional. John Teller was my service writer, and I want to thank him for not trying to up-sell me on anything. He was content to offer a service, and took no for an answer when I refused. However, I think they need to take the customer a little more seriously. After all, we spend every day, miles per week.
I mentioned a squeak from the front end of my engine bay, and asked that the idler pulleys be replaced in my Tacoma. As a mechanic of 8 years for the Army, I know a thing or two about engines, but have never owned a Toyota. I figured I could easily begin a relationship with the dealer by bringing them simple work. However, the tech insisted to John that it was the belts, not the pulleys. I ok'd the belt replacement, but still had thoughts it could be the pulleys. Low and behold, the squeak is still there. I've ordered them islets and will just replace them myself.
I also requested they replace a bushing on the clutch spring, as I was getting a mild metal on metal grind when pushing the clutch. They "diagnosed" the issue and said they could not repeat it. Didn't bother to call for clarification, didn't bother to call and say they could use some input on when, why, and what the noise could be.
Sorry for the long post, but take the time to work with the customer. The issues I originally brought the truck in for still exist. I'll be bringing it back with more specific instructions, and maybe make a wager with John to see if the issues can be fixed with just a little consideration for the customer that deals with it on a day to day bases. I'll make yes in the recommendation because the prices were fair, and the result of the service was overall a good one.
