Pleas reconsider taking your pet here...I am so disgusted w/VCA (Bradshaw/Elk Grove Blvd). I called them on 10/2/15. My little dog was very sick. They told me $110.00, up front. No exceptions!!! So, I made an appt for 10/5 I just hoped Sadie could hold on that long. We made it to the vet. The vetenarian, Dr. Pate wanted to check her temp. I told her she might nip. Of course Sadie tried to nip her. Sadie is a small Dachsaund. Roughly 9 yrs old. And does not like anyone messing around back there. She had not pooped in 4 days. And could not hold anything down. She had not eaten anything as well in 4 days. The vet said, ""Trying to nip me, huh""?(with a bit of an attitude). She wanted to test for diabetes. So she had a young girl come get Sadie. She said it would only take a couple minutes. They had her for about 15-20. I was wondering what was taking so long. The vet came bk w/o Sadie. Told us the test was negative. But she came up with a couple diff 'plans' for treatment. Blood panel $245.00, Hosp overnight $2000.00 or more. I told her my husband just got laid off after 34 yrs w/his job. Had 2 more jobs, was laid off from them also. But, they had both called him back. I had asked about a payment plan. She said they did not offer any, AT ALL!!! Sadie was clearly under a lot of stress when the vet was checking her. So I said, may as well give me my little dog back now, so I can take her home. But she sent us to the waiting room to PAY our bill before getting Sadie back. We paid, and they, brought her to us. She said they cut her toenails!!!!! WHAT?????? My dog is dying and you are more concerned with her TOENAILS? They did not have permission to do that!!! There was no concern for what Sadie was feeling!!! She said they had to put a muzzle on her. Muzzles are very traumatic for animals. And I know it was for Sadie. Today is 10/6. And at 8:10am this morn, my husband had to shoot Sadie. She was suffering. VCA DOES NOT CARE about your pet!!! The $$$ means more to them. I could not let someone else's pet die if I had any control over it. And these vets CHOOSE to let your pet die. I will never own another pet as long as I live. I still do not know what her condition was. But, I do know she is much better off now. We could not bear taking her back to VCA to be euthanized. Martha Knoles more
