I met Paul through an online referral service. I was looking for an HVAC contractor to install a new heating system but he called. He introduced me to Thomas Van Epps who works with Capital Home Improvements when heating/plumbing is involved. Thomas was professional and gave me a quote on a new heating system. In a follow-up meeting, Paul showed 45 minutes early and gave me a quote that was $2200 more than Thomas' quote. Paul then got upset when I told him I had other companies lined up for estimates. I think he thought I was just going to make a deal with him. Thomas then explained what work Paul was going to do and I rejected the proposal because I had my own carpenter/Sheetrock person to do Paul's work. Part of the work was to build an ""enclosure"" for the furnace so people wouldn't touch the controls. I got a kick out of that because it was not even something I would have considered, nor needed, but this is how Paul was trying to make some money. I chose another company, Halco, because they let me choose the brand of furnace I wanted, and their pricing was competitive. Afterwards, Thomas countered with an offer similar to Halco, but I declined. I was leery of Paul after our meeting and then reading many negative reviews, including reports on the BBB and various review sites, and of his pressure-like sales demeanor.
