Yesterday a Saturday, my husband and I adopted a dog for my son. We were looking at a boxer but were directed to a small chihuahua mix who was calm and very loving. We were told by a worker that he was playful when he first came in but like a switch he became withdrawn. I assumed it was probably due to all the dogs running around and he was smaller than most of the small dogs. We did our paper work and waited for him to come out from the bath, Lori the owner, never got up from her computer and looked at him.\r

After arriving home we thought he would ""perk up"", he just laid around he did drink some water but wouldn't eat.\r

Sunday morning he came in from outside sat down and a large amount of puss squirted out of his side, we immediately took him to an emergency vet (Molly's was not open for another 2 hours) where we were told his temp was 103.8, he had a bad infection and a possible hernia. I called Molly's and spoke with Lori who told me that I needed to bring the dog there if I wanted free care for him. Keep in mind he is already hooked up to IV antibiotics, she told me I was wrong about his temp and that is was probable an absess that started after I brought him home. I wasn't even 24 hours later. When I asked if she could call the vet and find out when he could get there I was told she would not call until I brought the dog in. And she personally looked at his incision before he left which is a lie she never got up from the computer.\r

I told her about the worker who told me about the change in this dog and she said he doesn't work there full time and he was wrong.\r

I'm thankful I saved the dog, I think his infection would have gone unnoticed, I will be suing for my vet bills.
