I came here at age 28 for my first mammogram. I knew I was at high risk because of my family history but what I did not know were all the possibilities that could eliminate that risk. Dr. Funk was warm, welcoming and friendly. She made me feel extremely comfortable when giving me information about what would later be life changing options. I decided to go through genetic testing and when I tested positive for one of the breast cancer genes, she helped encourage me to make one of the hardest decisions in my life. I had about a 1 in 2 chance of developing breast cancer. At age 30 I went through a prophylactic double mastectomy. This seems young, but my mother had passed away at a young age as well as her sisters and this was the right time. Dr. Funk probably saved my life and I really can't say anything to enough to show her and tell her my gratitude. Her friendly demeanor and expertise in the field gave me more confidence in this decision than I ever knew I had. The staff was always friendly and made an effort to remember who I was every step of the way. After going through everything I have no regrets and am so fortunate and appreciative I saw Dr. Funk in the first place. I am really happy with everything and the fact that I don't have to worry about my future and breast cancer.
