I am all for supporting small businesses and went with Floorcrafters after receiving an excellent referral. Ed was very attentive and responsive during the estimate process. That all changed once he cashed our deposit check! We had to hound him to find out when they would start the work. He did not return calls or emails. It took multiple attempts to reach him. \r

Make sure you do your research about what your floors will look like refinished with no stain v. stain. He is the pro but never goes over different finishes with you and how different the color changes after sanding. We originally did not want stain assuming that the floors would not look drastically different from their honey color. Good thing we went over there after they were sanded and saw that they would actually be a light blondish gray color. \r

He also does not abide by his estimates/contracts that he has customers sign. We wanted a specific design done to cover an old floor furnace that was not done and specifically spelled out on his estimate. He just unprofessionally blamed his employee for not reading the work slip carefully enough. He did not adjust the price any to make up for the work that was done incorrectly, nor did he offer to redo it correctly. When I asked him about adjusting the cost he proceeded to tell me that what was done instead was actually more expensive and labor intensive. The bottom line is that we wanted a specific design and it was not done. I would have been very satisfied had he made up for the screw up by deducting from the total cost. \r

It is unfortunate because the guys really did outstanding work and we have beautiful floors now, but I will NEVER recommend them based solely on the lack of good customer service. Owning a business is 80% customer service and 20% delivering the service and he did not handle the situation professionally. If he had been willing to make up for the mistake made, this review would have gone in the complete opposite direction.\r
